OMG, You’re All Grown Up – Part 10

OMG, You’re All Grown Up – Part 10

That night was different, you know? The moon was shining bright and the dark clouds that were hanging in the sky slowly faded away, disappearing into the darkness of the night.

But guess what? The rain didn’t even bother to show up.

And Lupus, as usual, was busy searching for his favorite socks. His beloved socks with the big toe hole. Those socks were a gift from Poppi because she noticed that Lupus never wore socks to school.

Where is it now?

Lupus searched on the shelf, on Mami’s vanity table, under Lulu’s bed, but it was nowhere to be found. Where did it go?

Mami was out that night, along with Lulu, taking care of a bazaar stand near Lupus’ house. They were selling pizza, Mami’s experimental creation. Yeah, Mami and Lulu have been promoting Mami’s homemade pizza like crazy lately. They said it’s just as good as the authentic Italian pizza. So when there was a bazaar event in the neighborhood, Mami immediately booked a stand. Lulu was there to serve the customers. And you know why? Because Rudi was also taking care of his mom’s garment stand right next to them. So that kid could have fun teasing Rudi.

Earlier, Mami apologized to Lupus because she couldn’t attend the inauguration night. The night when Lupus officially became a real student at Cafetariasakti University.

Oh no, it’s already past seven!

Lupus was worried. It’s not just because Phia was supposed to pick him up at seven. But also because Phia’s parents were going to be there at the inauguration night. Because Lusi was nominated as the exemplary student.

Lupus was still mad at Phia’s parents. Yeah, they only know Lupus as the reason why Phia turned into a brat. Without even bothering to find out who the real Lupus is.

Mami never thought of Lupus as that much of a troublemaker.

And tonight, Phia’s parents were there. Oh, imagine how jealous they would be seeing Lupus coming with Phia. They won’t be happy about it.

Lupus was getting nervous.

Yesterday, Lusi said that Phia couldn’t come to the inauguration night if she was with Lupus. Even though Phia really wanted to see Lupus being inaugurated as a new student. And they planned to go to the disco afterwards to celebrate. Lupus was going to treat Phia with the money he earned from his published article this morning.

While feeling anxious, Lupus rummaged through the storage room, searching for his socks. But instead, he found Mami’s unused light-up socks. Hihihi… maybe he could wear them.

Lupus put them on.

And then he caught a glimpse of someone behind him.

“Phia?”

Nope. It was Reza who appeared, holding a newspaper with Lupus’ article.

“Pus, I need to talk…”

“Oh sorry, Rez. I’m in a hurry.”

“Why did you send that article to the newspaper?”

“Maybe because the payment is faster and bigger. I wanted to treat my new girlfriend.”

“But what about my article in HAI?”

“That’s your problem. I didn’t feel like stealing your idea.”

“But we could have compromised. Co-writing the article together, and…”

Lupus smirked sarcastically. He remembered that Reza never intended to write together. Reza just wanted to steal his idea, so he could get praise and become a permanent journalist.

Oh man, I don’t have enough time to write together, Rez.

The sound of a horn could be heard outside.

“There, my girlfriend’s already picking me up. Sorry, gotta go.” Lupus quickly grabbed the package on the table and ran to the front.

“Hey, Pus…” Reza’s voice trailed off.

Lupus kept running.

“Mas Iwan told you to come, Pus!” Reza shouted.

But Lupus had already entered the Amenity door opened by Phia. “Hey, Phia.”

“Hi. Are you ready? Let’s go straight away.”

“My mom made some pizza for you. Want some?” Lupus handed the package to Phia, who received it with sparkling eyes.

“Wow, thanks. Your mom is so nice, Pus. Is everyone in your family this nice, Pus?”

Lupus grinned. Phia flashed a tooth. For a moment, the two of them glided on the slightly wet asphalt road.

Passing by the bazaar and its hustle and bustle.

“My mom opened a pizza stand over there,” Lupus said, pointing to the left corner of the field.

“Oh really? That’s awesome.”
