The Unsociable Drakuli – Part 1
Lupus sneaked out his racing bike through the side door of his house. Yeah, he was afraid of getting caught by Lulu. Because in the living room, when Lupus peeked, Lulu was like a spy, keeping an eye on him so Lupus wouldn’t leave.
Why did Lulu forbid Lupus from leaving?
Well, because this afternoon Lulu wanted to have a serious one-on-one talk with Lupus. It was about something serious, concerning Mom. What was it about? Well, Lulu didn’t want to talk about it until this afternoon, until Lulu came home from school. But Lupus had already made plans this afternoon with Gusur and Boim to buy rap competition invitations on the radio. So it wasn’t Lupus’ fault that he was trying to escape from Lulu.
“Puuus? Lupuuus?” Lulu suspiciously heard the sound of bike spokes jingling.
Lupus quickly pressed his body against the wall. He let his bike go ahead (hehehe…).
“Puuus? Where are you?” Lulu was still confused looking for him.
Lupus stayed quiet. But then he playfully pressed the bike bell using the remote control. “Ding ding, ding ding…!”
Lulu guessed that there was an ice cream vendor passing by the side of the house. But wait, there’s no road on the side of the house, right?
“An ice cream vendor, huh?” Lulu asked hesitantly.
“Ding ding, ding ding…!” Lupus pressed it again.
But Lulu finally worried that it was Lupus trying to escape on his bike. Besides, there’s no ice cream vendor stationed by someone’s house, right? If they allowed it, eventually there would be many other vendors who would join in and station themselves there. Lulu’s side of the house would turn into a flea market. And surely there would be a lot of flirting going on too. Ah, but that’s impossible.
“So that must be Lupus,” Lulu guessed in her mind.
“Pus, you’re not going to run away, right? This is important, you know. It concerns our future. And it’s very secret. So no one else can know,” Lulu shouted again, towards the side of the house.
Lupus moved closer to the wall. He didn’t want to play with the bell anymore, afraid of getting caught.
“We have to talk privately, Pus. Don’t let Mom know. You know, lately Mom has been going out with those annoying uncles….”
Hehehe, Lupus laughed in his heart. That kid is talking about a secret but shouting it out loud!
But Lupus didn’t care anymore. All he was thinking about right now was how to escape from home. For Lupus, going with Boim and Gusur was more fun than not going. “Hiyaaaa!” Lupus ran towards his bike. Unfortunately, Lupus’ jump wasn’t a hundred percent successful. The proof was that he was now hanging on the clothesline, Mom’s underwear. But Lupus quickly got up and tried to jump again…
“Hiyaaaa again!” Lupus shouted while trying to jump onto the bike saddle. His style was like a cowboy trying to jump onto a horse. But this time, his butt landed smoothly on the mailbox.
Lulu caught a glimpse of Lupus jumping around in the side yard. Lupus had failed three times trying to jump onto the bike saddle. Lulu was startled, then shouted, “Lupuuuus!”
Lupus, who had failed several times, quickly prepared himself again. “On…e…two…, hiyaaaa!”
This time it worked! Lupus safely sat on the bike saddle, and with all his strength, he pedaled hard. Wheeee, he smoothly glided on the road.
Lulu chased after him. She saw Mom’s underwear on the clothesline, some broken flower pots, and a mailbox in ruins as if it had been trampled by a bull.
“Lupuuus, where are you going? We haven’t talked about Mooo…om! The one who’s been going out with those uncles!” Lulu screamed.
But Lulu’s voice was carried away by the wind. Lupus was already far down the street. Lupus was fast, even though his butt was all bruised!
